"Till" is the powerful account of the racist murder of 14-year-old Emmett Till in Mississippi in 1955 and how his mother Mamie insisted that the world see what had been done to her son. In this podcast episode, HCC film professors Marie Westhaver and Mike Giuliano discuss a crucial episode in the civil rights movement, and how this feature film brings that history alive. Marie and Mike also talk about "Tar," in which Cate Blanchett gives an impressive performance as a conductor whose professional accomplishments are more than matched by shortcomings in her personal life. Although Marie and Mike have reservations about this film, it does offer behind-the-scenes insights into the world of classical music.
