The Lost City

 If "The Lost City" often seems like an overly familiar jungle adventure, that's because this light-hearted, action-packed entertainment will remind you of earlier and better movies such as "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Romancing the Stone." HCC film professors Marie Westhaver and Mike Giuliano discuss it in this podcast episode. Marie says that one thing she likes about the movie is that the Indy Jones-type role is played here by a woman, Sandra Bullock, as a romance novelist who is abducted in a far-fetched story that Mike says will have you smiling at its improbable twists and turns. Others in the cast include Channing Tatum, Daniel Radcliffe and Brad Pitt. Marie and Mike also discuss a much darker film, "Morbius," in which Jared Leto plays a scientist-turned-vampire. Although they observe that there are disappointing aspects of the characterization and plot, Marie and Mike agree that it is refreshing to have a Marvel movie that is under two hours.
