HCC film professors Marie Westhaver and Mike Giuliano discuss film censorship in this podcast episode. That general subject is inevitable considering they are talking about a new British film, "Censor," whose main character is employed as a government film censor in the 1980s. Although Marie and Mike found this film to be disappointing on various levels, they agree that a bad film can lead to a good discussion. Although the second film discussed during this episode does not directly concern film censorship, the edgy subject matter in "Zola" may raise an eyebrow. Based on a Twitter thread, this feature film concerns two young women who work as exotic dancers in Florida. The film's jittery pace and superficial characterization bothered Mike, but he and Marie both liked this film's energy.
